Someone Who Sees All of You and Still Thinks You’re a Badass

Say the Thing and Have It Finally Be Heard

You’ve been through a lot already. Some of it you’ve talked about. Some of it you haven’t.

What you want is to say what’s on your mind and in your heart and have it finally land.

That takes a sharp, accepting, compassionate, nonjudgmental witness to the hard things you’ve lived through. Someone who sees all of you and still thinks you’re a badass doing an incredible job.

Get Someone in Your Corner Who’ll Still Tell You the Truth

Therapy with me feels like having someone firmly in your corner.

Warm enough to help you feel safe. Honest enough to lovingly challenge you when you’re standing in your own way.

Energy, humor, curiosity, and authenticity come into the therapy room with me, because growth doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time.

I’ll celebrate your wins, compassionately point out your blind spots, and help you recognize the strength that’s been there all along.

Find the Very Good Reason You Do the Things You Do

One of my greatest strengths is helping people make sense of themselves.

Patterns show themselves to me. So does nuance, and the ability to hold seemingly opposite truths at the same time without flattening either one.

And the very good reason you do the things you do, which is a better reason than the one you’ve been giving yourself.

Together, we’ll help those patterns become more conscious, gently reshape the ones that no longer serve you, and move toward a life that feels more authentic, connected, and fulfilling.

Trust Yourself More Than You Trust Me

Twenty years in, the thing I want least is for you to need me.

The point of all of this is for you to trust yourself more deeply and see the whole person you already are.

You’ll walk out with your own read on your own patterns, and you’ll be the one who decides what to do about them.

About Lauren Hilton, LPCC, CMHC

My first job, back in 2002, was teaching anger management at the Utah State Prison.

It was so much fun I decided to enroll in graduate school. In 2005, I earned a master’s in counseling from the University of Phoenix (this was ages ago, when school was still in person).

That degree was more than 20 years ago, and I genuinely love this work. The training has kept stacking up the whole time, mostly in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and the parts-work approaches that shape how I think about people.

These days my office is in Olympic Valley, California, and I see people virtually throughout California and Utah.

Most importantly, I’m the therapist I wish I had when I needed one.

A Few Things You Should Know About Me

I’m a bitch, I’m a lover, I’m a child, I’m a mother, I’m a sinner, I’m a saint, I sometimes feel ashamed (I’m only human after all). I’m a Leo Sun, Gemini Rising, Enneagram 7, ENTP, Manifesting Generator, and Yellow (fun) on the color code.

When I’m not in the therapy room, I’m usually reading something educational or funny, spending time outside, gardening barefoot, soaking up sunshine, watching stand-up comedy with my son, or playing with friends at the beach. On occasion, I’m still down for a night on the town, either karaoke or dancing.

I value authenticity, whimsy, willingness, and wisdom. I know that self-acceptance and a beginner mindset lead to all kinds of acceptance, and I know that increasing your capacity to tolerate all of reality is a prerequisite for a magical, fulfilling, and whole life.

Let’s Talk

Research consistently shows that regardless of therapeutic approach, education, or modality, the quality of the relationship between therapist and client is one of the strongest predictors of meaningful change. I believe that wholeheartedly.

Which is why the letters after my name matter less to me than whether you walk out of the first session feeling met. So we start by talking, and you find out how it feels to be in a room with me.

Reach out today to schedule a free consultation call. Call me at (530) 213-0696 or email me at hello@laurenhilton.com.

All of your parts are welcome on that call, including the one that’s been talking you out of making it.

Testimonial of former client returning:

“Are you still taking therapy clients? I haven’t found a single therapist since you that I can work with that doesn’t just give me bullshit empathy and pity. They don’t give me any advice/skills that I ask for help with, and I make no progress.”
